We know that systemic racism - the legacy of slavery, has created significant wealth disparities and cultural disempowerment among Black Vermonters. This threatens economic development, democracy, and social health and wellness of all Vermonters. As the State of Vermont contemplates a systematic and just economic transition to eradicate systemic racism, we continue to implement approaches to address the economic, cultural and other factors that continuously and insidiously adversely impact the Black community.
Access to Technology - Improving and Advancing individuals skills.
Cultural empowerment - Enriching the broader communities, and empowering the underserved communities. Healing the communities through gathering and wellness events.
Community engagements - Builds the solidify the community
Computer Skills - Typing, navigating the internet, google drive, and various engines.
Educational and Cultural resources - Unifying the different cultures and the school system. Delivering black humanities, music, art, culture and education.
Fun and Entertainment - Provide for a more vibrant community center. Relationship building and prevention.
Programming and services will include cultural empowerment activities and programs (presentations, commemorations and celebrations, and arts activities), people support (personal wellness and development, small business support and wealth management), youth programming (including mentoring, homework assistance and STEAM cultivation, and sports), community empowerment (events and activities, spiritual and emotional support, group discussions), and workforce development (client and employer services).

This campaign will also fund NEW carpet flooring in our space!!! Currently, the space has asbestos tiles and nails sticking out making it quite the safety hazard. This renovation will create a more safe and inviting environment for everyone!
Why Your Help Matters
The Richard Kemp Center is a grass roots community initiative doing the work of eradicating systemic racism. Expanding the Richard Kemp Center to provide technology and resources will ensure that all programming and services from the center are fully accessible to all and increase the effectiveness of the center exponentially.

Update:
As you know the flooring was cracked, had nails sticking out and looked very worn out. With your help we were able to put brand new carpet in. Not only has the space become more inviting but it has also become more safe for the community. We appreciate your donation. The pics below are the updates.
As part of the grant we were able to complete our second annual Back in School Block party. Where we gave away school supplies, provided food and entertainment for the youth. We also held a Youth talent show.
We have also been able to purchase:
Hygiene Supplies, Computer desks, School Supplies, Arcade Games, Pool Table/Air Hockey Table, Table Tennis, Storage containers, RKC hats and shirts, etc.
