Help us improve Veterans Memorial Park!

The City of Perry hopes to build a new playscape at Veterans Memorial Park this summer and we need your help to do it. In August of 2023, a tornado destroyed the park's pavilion. We are currently rebuilding the pavilion with the help of insurance funds. With the support of City Council, the Parks Committee wants to add more amenities to the park at the same time to make the park a community destination. This campaign will allow us to create a new playscape and complete the park in its grandest vision!!!

About Perry Veterans Memorial Park

The park is a beautiful tribute to our service men and women.  In addition to the flag circle and memorial honoring all branches of the military, the pavilion and grounds are used throughout the year for community events. They are often rented to host family reunions, birthday parties, and graduation celebrations. There is also a ball field onsite used by the community throughout the summer.

There is currently no play equipment at the park.  Adding a playscape will give residents and visitors alike more options for outdoor play.

IF our goal of $15,000 is met, every dollar donated will be matched by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) essentially DOUBLING YOUR DONATION!  Together, we can make a difference in our community!

Jumpstart a new park experience.

With the help of a voter approved park millage, the city has $15,000 designated to park improvements for this project. If successful, this fundraising campaign could more than double our money!  The goal of the Parks Committee is to gain resident confidence by starting with a small improvement project to build momentum for the future while adding value right now. This campaign will allow us to:

  • Install a small scale playscape for kids of all ages that includes climbers, slides and interactive play as well as the appropriate groundcover around the play structure.
  • Add new experiences to an existing park.
  • Room for growth: consider this phase one and get excited for more park improvement possibilities!

All funds raised through this campaign will go directly to purchasing equipment, groundwork and installation of this playscape.  Every dollar is one step closer to making this goal achievable! With your help - we will be successful in reaching our goal to build this new playscape!

These photos are renderings of potential play structures, colors and amenities may slightly vary.  Estimated footprint is 35' X 35'.  Elementary aged children will be given an opportunity to vote for their favorite!

The Play Structure Has been selected!

Update May 15 - Thanks to the overwhelming support of our community partners, the committee was able to select a structure with universal design features making it more inclusive for users of all abilities.  Our friends at Perry Elementary were given a survey to select the colors of the structure - below is what they selected!

Veteran's Memorial Park Goal Reached!

The Park Committee is happy to announce that we have reached our crowdfunding goal and will receive a $15,000 match from the MEDC Public Places Community Spaces program.

In addition to reaching this goal, the Community District Library has pledged another $15,000 from the Ken & Jo Anne O'Berry Trust! *Please note that no tax dollars were used in this commitment from the library.

This commitment has allowed us to select a playscape that will be more inclusive to users of all abilities. Design previews coming soon!

We are blown away by the generosity of our community. With 28 days remaining in our campaign there's still time for you to be a part of this park transformation. While additional funding will not be matched, your support will still help us add more play to the park!

Join us in giving them a great big THANK YOU!
