This campaign reached its goal on May 16, 2021 3:45 AM.
The National Grange was founded in 1867 to support agriculture and rural communities and bring them together. Since 1931, the Simsbury Grange has been dedicated to community, sustainability, and resilience. In the 1940's, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and fellow students from Morehouse College worked in Simsbury's tobacco fields. They attended dances at the Grange, and his time in Simsbury had a big impact on Dr. King.
We are an all-volunteer, intergenerational organization that reflects the Grange’s strong 150+ history and ethical foundation. Our motto is “our cause is our community.” We are striving to meet the new challenges we face today with do-it-yourself Yankee values of thrift, craft, and cooperation
We are matching farmers and apprentices for the 2021 growing season and providing free seeds to the community! Funds from this campaign will support partnerships between apprentices and farmers. Each apprentice receives a stipend and each farmer receives a small honorarium to acknowledge their expertise and training. Free seed give-away events will be opportunities to learn more and apply (virtual/electronic applications also an option).

We are also seeking volunteers to help pack seeds and help with our "Read and Seed" kiosk with free books and free seeds. Contact us at info@simsburygrange.org.
